Steve Jobs' speech

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=UF8uR6Z6KLc

My first reaction while I was listening to Steve Jobs’ speech was that I’d already heard it somewhere else. All the time we read or hear inspirational quotes like the ones Jobs succeeds in using to create a hopeful atmosphere for the newly graduates at Stanford University. Paraphrasing Paulo Coelho in one of his famous novels, the Universe conspires for you to achieve what you really want, and that is exactly what Jobs conveys when retelling his own life experience. He also insists on seeing the opportunities in life’s difficulties and that every failure gives us a new chance to start over.

Live the day as if it were the last one; remember we are all going to die anyway, seems to be the most striking point in Jobs’ talk How to Live Until You Die. Death is the only thing that has no solution, my mother says, and she has a point in that we should not get extremely worried in every day setback that we face. Instead, we should take into account that life is ours and we should do our best, no matter in which field. It is good to be reminded about that every once in a while, since we tend to forget what is really important for us, due to the everyday hustle and bustle we live in.

Do what you love and love what you do, until you die. I totally agree with Steve Jobs.

  1. I like that part "the Universe conspires for you to achieve what you really want". Fernanda says that Paulo Coelho says that. I did not know that Paulo Coelho had said that.
Never have I read anything of Paulo Coelho. I think that once I flipped the pages of one of his books. But I think that I did not like the general tone of the texts, I don´t know why.
Perhaps I should revise my "skin decision" and try one of his books. It could be enlightning...

    1. Never judge a book by its cover, it is said. And I would add never judge someone, such as a writer, by the critics he has received. I came across that book -The Alchemist- by accident, though they say there are no such things as accident...As some blogger said (or at least what I took from the blog) things happen for a reason. Someone at my father's place of work forgot the book, and there I was, with a little experience on reading, with two whole days dedicated to it, until Monday. I will always remember that book because of the impressions it left in me, a twenty-year-old with a life ahead of her.
I recomend you to read it, Adela!

  2. I had the same feeling as you did, Fernanda... That you had already heard that speech somewhere.. When Steve Jobs died, that speech became really popular and it was in all the news...
Anyway, I also agree with the part in which he says that there is no solution for death... since it reaches all of us... And that we have to make the best out of our lives everyday...
    Very interesting reaction!!! ;)

  3. I also liked the quote of the Universe.. I am not a such faithful person but that of the conspiration I do believe.

It is sad to know we will all die and I must confess I fear death a lot. However knowing that we will all go through it makes me feel more relaxed, ha ha. :P

  4. I really liked the last quote. "Do what you love and love what you do, until you die". How many times do we stop to think about what we really want or who we really want to be? Not so much, I think. We are so condiotioned by our society that unconsciuosly we follow certain rules and behaviuoral patterns in order to fit in or tu fulfill somebody else´s expectations. And that is totally wrong. We are the ones in charge of writing our own present and future. So, let´s start doing what we really love because life won´t wait for us :D
